Just checking in

Things are great at our house. We are both exhausted but life is good. James doesn't travel again until JUNE! WHOOHOO! Well, he has a two-nighter in April but that really doesn't count. Emily seems to be doing well. She seems to be getting bigger every day and I am anxious for her doc appointment on Monday to see how much she has gained. I got used to having her weighed every day at the hospital and I thought about buying a baby scale but figured it might just make me obsessed with her weight. She still isn't on any sort of routine and she seems to sleep for longer stretches in the day than at night, though she just went from a midnight feeding to a 330 am feeding without waking earlier so that is good. It was a pleasant surprise to see the clock because I expected it to say 2 something when she started to cry. She seems to be suffering from some pretty nasty reflux. I don't remember Megan having it this bad but then that could just be the selective mommy memory that keeps you from remembering the bad stuff so you'll be suckered into having more children. :-) She spits up hours after eating and it seems to be a bit painful sometimes. It's just something we'll discuss with the doc on Monday. She has an appointment with the hematologist on Friday and we're anxious to find out what is going on there. I was a bit taken back when I called to make the appointment when they answered the phone "Texas Oncology". The relationship between 'hematology' and 'oncology' was something I had put out of my mind until then. Emily's discharge papers indicated that the risk of anything being severely wrong were pretty low but it will be on our minds until she gets the all clear.

Megan seems to be adjusting well. She is very curious but not TOO jealous, yet. She goes to the doc on Monday too for her 15 month checkup and we're anxious to see her weight and percentiles. She seems even bigger now that we have this 6 lb. baby at home!!

Sounds like things are going well! FYI - my nephew, Maks, had some tummy problems like that and he ended up being lactose intolerant. They switched him to soy formula and VOILA! A new baby! I think he grew out of it around 18 months or so. Maks has given them a few rough nights, so they tried changing up his milk and he does better with soy too. My SIL even drinks lactose free milk for nursing. Just something to think about, as it took them THREE months to figure it out with Xander.
Hope everything goes well at the doc appointments!
