Emily had her follow-up with the opthamologist today. It was all great news! Everything was normal today so we don't have to go back for a year. The doc said she has a greater risk of having crossed eyes or lazy eye because of her prematurity but at least we know she doesn't have ROP - the optic nerve and blood vessels in the eye are normal. We go next week to get her second and final dose of Synagis, the RSV "vaccine". Getting insurance approval for that was a nightmare but we are happy to have that extra protection. The only other appointment that I still need to schedule for her is with the cardiologist then the appointments will start to spread out a little. It sure was an ugly day to be out and about with a hungry baby!!
I can't believe tomorrow is Emily's due date. It is very strange to think that my wounds are healed, the birth and hospital stay are already distant memories, and that she has come such a long way already while she shouldn't technically be here yet.
Don't get me started on Megan. She's learning new tricks every day. She still isn't talking but she comprehends so much. I can tell her to put a toy away and she knows where it goes. She just started blowing kisses. We've started working with the spoon - and I have some great pics of that! When the phone rings, she runs to the kitchen so she's there with me to answer it. When my blackberry dings with an email notification she runs to the front door because she thinks it is the doorbell. When she wants to go outside she either goes to the closet for her jacket or she'll bring me her shoes. Today, while I was burping Emily, Megan came up and patted her on the back too. It was so cute!! She has been really good with Emily, so far. She gets so excited when I have Emily on the floor and she doesn't want to do anything else but sit by her ... and poke at her. I am constantly saying to be careful and gentle but I'm not sure she grasps that concept yet so I have to be right there when Emily is out there with us. It has been a lot of fun watching them both grow and I really look forward to the next several months.

YEAH for all the good news at the doctor visits. I hope the good news keeps coming. I hope the Zantac works..luckily we haven't had to deal with any of that with Blanca. Megan is getting to be such a big girl!
