All's quiet on the North Texas front ...

ahhhhh ...

Turkey Day ... DONE!!

Megan's first birthday party ... DONE!!

It is really quiet around the house, with the exception of Megan's noisy new toys of course, but we're enjoying it. We had a great weekend and the party was fun. Little kids' parties don't last very long but they're exhausting!! Megan didn't have a meltdown like I half expected. She's not usually around a big group of people and is starting to show a little nervousness around new faces but she did great! She powered through and didn't nap until almost 2:00 ... then slept for 4 hours!! My poor little girl was tired!

Sunday we all slept in and took it easy in the morning then went out to lunch. Yummy Mexican food. Megan had some taco meat and rice and a few bites of buttery tortilla goodness for lunch! What a mess she was but it was nice that I didn't have to get out baby food! Usually I feed her before we head out but we decided she could eat there with us and it worked great. This place has kids meals for $3.25 which isn't so bad from what I'm seeing out there. She's getting to be such a big girl! Then we went to the baby store to buy furniture for the baby. We walked around for a long time before ultimately purchasing what we planned to all along: exactly what Megan has. It should arrive sometime in the end of January!!

We do have a busy few days coming up. Actually, we're pretty busy until Christmas but then my doc's appointments become more frequent and then I'll have two kids so I guess I'll just be busy or the rest of my life.

I started that post this morning and now it's afternoon and ... ahhhh ... nap time. My mom and I went to lunch at a different Mexican place that wants $4.95 for a kids meal, plus $2 for milk! GEEZ! Megan had a cheese quesadilla and some rice and beans. She ate most of her quesadilla and I brought home the leftover rice and beans. She likes them and I can make her a cheese quesadilla to go with them for lunch tomorrow. She made an absolute mess but it was fun!! The best part was that since I was tearing up her quesadilla and feeding her the beans and rice I didn't dip my diabetic hands into the chip bowl too often!! Afterwards we went to Wal-Mart and I found exactly what I was looking for! How often does that happen? I wanted some potted topiary type pre-lit Christmas trees for my front porch and they had one box of 2 left!! WOOHOO! I also bought Megan a Christmas gift but we'll see if it really makes it until Christmas morning. I have a feeling I might give it to her soon! It's like a little Aquadoodle (a mat you draw on with a water filled marker) but it's made by Crayola and is really small. The "marker" is round and made for small toddler hands to grip. It's for 18+ months but it was too cute to pass up ... and $5 ... so we'll see!!

I'll leave you with a few pics from last week. There are more on my Shutterfly pics page, link on right.
My big one year old!!

She liked the frosting but didn't really dig in. There was purple everywhere! You'll be surprised to know that the purple actually came out of everything too. Her clothes and the high chair cover are spotless once again!

This year was Meg's first Thanksgiving too. I spent last Thanksgiving in the hospital so this year was so much better. Lots to be Thankful for, for sure!
She didn't care for the turkey but had some mashed potatoes and stuffing.
She thought the cranberry sauce was yummy!!

We got a family shot during dinner but she was reaching that cranberried hand out towards me! What a mess! We had to strip her down at the table and change her clothes! I'm not sure if the cranberry sauce came out. That would be a surprise. It was ALL OVER her sleeves. Well worth it though. She had so much fun!

Now, a final thought (ha ha like on jerry springer). I feel bad for t.u. that they got screwed. I know that I should pull for OU in the Big XII Championship game since they're in the Big XII South but I hope they lose so t.u. goes for the National Championship. The whole system absolutely sucks and I can't believe OU lost to t.u. and they're ranked higher. What a rip off. I guess we can blame Tech for screwing everything up. Actually, if you think about it, the good old Ags are who screwed Texas. If we hadn't been such a weak opponent then OU wouldn't have beaten them on 'strength of schedule', right? So if you're a die-hard Ag you can relish the thought that we actually were the spoilers for t.u. If you hate Stoops like I do, you can just shake your head and watch and hope someone runs up the damn score on them!! I want them to lose 77-0. Nah, I'm not bitter or anything ...
