Katie Bug

Today was the worst day ever.  I had to take my dear sweet sweet doggy to have her put down.  James and I adopted her through Golden Beginnings Golden Retriever Rescue in Houston in October 2002.  She was a great dog, the best thing to happen to us at the time, and even though she was a little crazy at times we loved her more than life itself.  I uploaded a few pictures.  Yeah, I wanted to see the pics but I wanted to share them too.  This was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do and honestly, I'm not sure I'll ever be able to do it again.  I got home from the vet today, with her collar in my purse, and I still looked around for her to greet me when I walked in the door.  Her bowls are still in the kitchen with the water she drank today and her toy box is still in our bedroom on the floor where her bed was.  We scheduled her routine visit with the vet for December 30th and the night before that appointment, she didn't eat her dinner.  That was the beginning because she ate very little after that.  We couldn't ignore it and we knew she was miserable.  She wasn't even eating bacon, so we knew it was her time.  I know we made the right decision but it was definitely one of the hardest I've had to make in my life.  Hugs go out to all of you who have ever had to do this and a big thanks to my mom for being there for me.

We love you dear Katie Bug.  We always have and we always will.  You truly were the "Best Dog in the World".

Upside down puppy tummy!
Occasionally she would just roll over while she was sleeping on the couch just so you could give her a big belly rub.  She loved it!

Toys in her backyard in Pearland.
Such a pretty young dog she was.

After an exhausting 16+ hour Hurricane Rita Evacuation.
She crawled up on the bed and fell asleep immediately.

She even lived in the Extended Stay Deluxe with me when we moved.
She was such a trooper during the move.

Sleepy dog with her Aggie Dog collar.
Glad we're all moved in!

The size of her new backyard was a definite upgrade.
She loved her new "queendom".

The snow always made her a little frisky!

We finally got to take her to Breckenridge.
This was in the hotel after the first day of driving.
One pooped puppy!

Kaitlin actually being a DOG!
*gasp*

She adjusted well to the arrival of the girls.
Megan always tried to play with her but I think Kaitlin just thought she was taking her toys away.

I will always remember your doggy smile, Katie Bug.
Thank you so much for being such a great member of our family.
We love you!
