Leaps and bounds

Leaps and bounds ... my girls are growing by leaps and bounds!!

Emily started rolling over Saturday night. Goodness knows I don't give her anywhere near enough tummy time so I was VERY surprised when she plopped on over the other night. She has become such a smiley little girl, when she's not screaming to be changed, fed or held. She has such a cute little smile, completely different from her gassy smile too! But, if she's smiling at you then you leave, be prepared to hear about it. She loves attention and hates being lonely, apparently. And just within the last week or so she has started to giggle a little. Yesterday she gave me a deep belly laugh that melted my heart. She seems to be developing somewhere between her actual age (almost 5 months - OMG!) and adjusted age (about 2.5 months), which makes me very happy. Even though our pedi didn't seem to think it was necessary, I'm looking forward to our visit with Priscilla, her developmental nurse from the NICU, in July just to get a read on how they think she's doing. When Megan was a baby I was glued to that "what to expect" book but I haven't even looked at it with Emily. It's so hard trying to figure out where she fits in that I just don't bother. She's doing fine and that's all that matters. Luckily, she didn't get my cold. Megan was a snot factory for a few days and I gave her some medicine but she never ran a fever. Emily has a little more snot than usual but that's it, nothing more.

SO ... tonight is Emily's first night in the guest room!! She is now in the pack n play instead of the travel crib too. I'll be interested to see how she does. So far so good (fingers crossed - because I've had a few beers and would like the sleep - mommy's such a lush). She cried when I first put her down but all quiet since then. We don't really want to move her upstairs into her room until she's sleeping through the night. That worked with Megan because she was sleeping through the night at 4 months!! By that, I mean from about 10 to 6 ish. Emily goes from about 9 pm to 3 am then only makes it to about 7 after that. I really don't want to trek up the stairs at 3 am, let alone worry about Megan waking up, but I guess we'll have to put her up there eventually.

My life isn't all Emily. Megan is starting to show signs of a good heart, rather than the whole 'plucking wings off butterflies' theory I had earlier. :-) We went out for ice cream on Saturday night, Marble Slab is right down the road. Megan just shared our ice cream, she certainly doesn't need her own yet, and when James offered her the spoon she pushed his hand and the spoon towards Emily who was sleeping in her car seat on the floor. It was so sweet I almost cried!! She only tried to share with her once ... but the fact that she even did it was just so cute!! Megan enjoyed the ice cream and her eyes just lit up with every bite. Megan has also finally started walking up into her treehouse/fort all by herself. She wanted nothing to do with the ramp or slide until we had all the kiddos over on Memorial weekend. I guess she saw all the fun they had and decided she needed to try it out. She still isn't too sure about the slide but she sure likes walking up and scooching down the ramp. It's too cute and we've even gotten comfortable enough with her doing it that we can sit down and watch from the patio. As long as we watch.

So that's what's going on in our world. I can't believe I'm still awake at 11:00. I have finally put away the pump for good. Emily is on all formula all the time and she seems to be adjusting well. It will make my life easier I guess but might make my posts even more limited. I only have time on the computer after everyone is in bed, and shouldn't I be in bed too?

Wonderful news about your girls! They sound so sweet! We totally need to get together...big group...after Mel moves back to OK! I'm serious! Maybe during the day at a park WITH the kids, then get babysitters and hit the town that night WITHOUT them!?!
