We had a fantastic time this weekend in Houston. We only went down there for one night because Sunday was the Craig Biggio jersey retirement at the Astros game. Yes, we drove all the way to Houston for one night for a baseball game and if I had it to do all over again, I would. It was absolutely worth it! On the way down we stopped at a rest area just north of Huntsville. It had to be the most beautiful rest area I have ever seen. They had a little lake with a walking trail around it and a huge playground where Megan got to go down the slide! Unfortunately I didn't take the camera with me so I don't have any pics of her first playground. :-( We stayed with some friends in Pearland, where we used to live, and went out to dinner at our old favorite $1 margarita mexican restaurant Don Pico's. I really miss Houston mexican food. It is so much better than the crap up here. For that matter, I really miss $1 margaritas. OK, so I just really miss margaritas but we could spend $3 each on drinks on a Saturday night and just get silly! They have $1 margs every Saturday and $1 drafts every Sunday. Places up here consider $3.00 for a bottle of beer a "special" and that just bites. OK ... enough booze reminiscing. We just hung out after dinner and watched the Olympics. Sunday we went to the game. We got there in plenty of time to see the ceremony and left around the 4th inning so we could be home in time for Megan to have a bath and get to bed on time. I hated to leave the game early but it was for the best since we had a 4+ hour drive home. The ceremony was great and yes, I cried. I really tried not to but I couldn't help myself. It was good to be back at Minute Maid Park too. We used to go to a few games a year and I really miss that. I think Megan enjoyed her first Astros game, she was such a trooper, until Hunter Pence gunned a runner at the plate and everyone cheered very loudly. Then, she wasn't so excited. She was an absolute trooper the whole weekend, in the car, at Dairy Queen (where she was lucky to taste her first soft serve - just a very small taste), at Jim and Tina's house, everywhere. James has some time-off coming up so I think we might be taking another road trip and I can't wait.
Today we're back to normal. Megan is running around and I'm just trying to keep her in the living room. I have to go to the grocery store, which I'm absolutely dreading because it's raining ... and I'm tired ... and we need everything so it won't be a quick trip!
Here are some pics from the weekend!
Megan on her first real road trip!

The rain was much needed, but boy it was a pain, I had to get out in it as well. At least Riley can run through it now, though!
