I had my second visit with my OB today and I got to hear the heartbeat!!! James wasn't able to make it this time so he missed out. :-( It was much easier to find this time ... and just as incredible. When I was pregnant with Megan it took my doc a while to find the heartbeat for the first time but this pregnancy has already been so different and the first heartbeat experience was no exception. Her explanation last time was that it must be a girl because they always give her a harder time. This time, she said it must be a boy because we heard it right away. :-) I will be very interested to see if she's right since she was last time!! I have to make an appointment to see my high-risk guy next week and he'll do an in-depth ultrasound. My OB told me that he might be able to tell me the baby's gender!!! At 12 weeks!! That would be cool but we'll definitely hold off on decorating until a little later in the pregnancy. On a bummer of a note ... she wants to do the glucose 3 hour test. With Megan, my one hour test was 200+ so I didn't have to endure the three hour but this time, my number was 176 so she wants to do it. BOOO! I convinced her to hold off on that until we get my bloodwork back from my endocrinologist because she did an A1c that tests the blood sugar levels over the past 3 months. She agreed to wait, but I'm going back to see her in two weeks instead of 4 so we can get this all worked out. UGH! I'm so glad my mom will be in town for most of September since I'm having so many doc appointments. This is UNREAL! I'm going to some doctor every freakin week!! I'm a mess. The wheels are falling off the cart! ha ha ha!
OH ... but I do have to brag about something!! I haven't gained any weight! I am almost 12 weeks (almost out of the dreadful first trimester) and I have actually lost one pound! Luckily, it's not because I've been sick. The nausea is terrible but I'm not puking so that's good! No, the weight loss is because of the diabetes diet (blech!) and I'm sure not drinking beer everyday has helped too! "They" say that the weight you don't lose after having a baby is the weight you gain during the first trimester so things are looking good for me.
And ... now is the time on my post I get to complain!!! The stupid Aggie game isn't on TV this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SSSSSSSSSSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssss!
But at least it's football season so I can't complain too much!

YEAH!! It is such a cool experience to hear the heartbeat for the first time. I don't "know" you other than the blog, but I think you are having a boy! Were you sick when pregnant with Megan? I'm having a girl and have not had ANY nausea! Melissa told me she thinks you get sicker with boys because of the different hormones :-). Just a thought. Good luck on the diabetes thing. The three hour test isn't really worse than the one hour, it just sucks to sit at the office and get stuck every hour! At least your mom will be there to help!
Yep, for the record-I am saying BOY! :-D It will be exciting to find out!!! :-)
PS- I listen to the Aggie games on the internet radio when they aren't on TV!!! Can't wait 'til tomorrow!!!! :-D
