So let me just tell you about our trip. The part that the pictures don't tell. Night 1: we checked into the hotel and hung out a while then headed out in the 100+ degree heat in search of dinner. Ended up at Razoo's. Can I just tell you, I hate pickles but I love their fried pickles. And you MUST have a Swamp Thang when you go there. It's a frozen concoction of Hurricane and Margarita with some other stuff mixed in. So, that was night 1. After we got back to the hotel we let the girls play a little then did the bath and bed thing. Since we had a two room suite, Megan went to bed in the 'living room' while Emily slept in the bedroom with us. Since Megan and Emily went to bed at 830 we were stuck with beer over ice in the sink and watching the TV quietly. It was nice! On the 4th we hit the Stockyards for the petting zoo and other hokey stuff. It was a great call because Megan LOVED the animals. We ate lunch at Riskey's BBQ. Seriously, just what I needed after Razoo's the night before. We drove around a while after the Stockyards because we knew that would be Megan's only nap for the day so we wanted her to sleep. That night, we set out in the blazing heat without a plan for dinner. Sundance Square in FW is a great place to stay but it's not exceptionally kid-friendly with the dining choices. We ended up eating Mexican. It was great ... but seriously ... who needs that much food? The weekend is only half over by this point too! Sunday we hit the FW Zoo. If you live in the metroplex and have never made it out to the FW Zoo you really need to. Megan, again, loved looking at the animals. She has the attention span of a gnat though so some things kept her attention more than others. We ate lunch at their little food court so, fast food. great. Another healthy meal!! More nap-time driving around after the zoo. On one of our drives we actually passed the Rainbow Lounge, the gay bar famous for the TABC and FWPD raid that landed one guy in the hospital a few weeks ago. Which is even funnier when I tell you that night at dinner we encountered a protest of said raid. Rainbow flags were waving. It was .... interesting. Anywho, we ended up at Uno Pizzaria (or whatever it is) that night. It was YUMMY but ... seriously ... did you read all the places we ate? Add to that the 'cooked to order' and buffet breakfast every morning offered by the Embassy Suites including pancakes, biscuits, bacon, french toast sticks, bagels, danish, etc. I came home a good 5 lbs heavier!! Seriously ... I gained 5 lbs over the long weekend. Wrong direction, scale! Wrong direction!
Hope you enjoyed the pics and my tale of two million calories!
