Bummer

My birthday was a bummer. I guess that means Valentine's Day was too. James came home from work with a fever over 102. I felt so bad for him because he stopped to pick up dinner for me on his way home and he obviously felt like crap. He actually called in sick Friday. I think that might have been the first day he has called in sick ... ever. He's still asleep in the guest room, where he has been since he got home from work Thursday night, safely away from Baby Megan and I have been washing my hands every time I stand up so hopefully we'll be able to keep her healthy. He hasn't been near her since Wednesday night but we're pretty sure he caught this virus from a co-worker Monday or Tuesday so she's already been exposed ... as have I. Time is ticking and I'm just waiting.

I took Megan to the doc yesterday. She has been spitting up after almost every meal and with almost every burp. She fusses while she eats and seems to be in pain. I hadn't made the connection but she hadn't been sleeping well either. It looks like reflux. I don't like the idea of medicating my little baby but if it makes her feel better I guess I have to. We started Zantac last night and she had her second dose this morning. I think it might already be helping or it could just be my awareness that is helping because I'm keeping her more upright and not letting her over eat. I also put the wedge back under her mattress to keep her head elevated. I had it there because she was congested and I removed it a couple weeks ago because she seemed better, but I guess it helps heartburn too. :-) The good news is that the spitting up isn't affecting her ability to gain weight since she weighed 13 lbs. 1 oz. yesterday. Yes, she's only 11 weeks old. We've lost our schedule but maybe we're on a new one. I fed her at 9:45 last night and put her to bed around 10:15. She didn't wake up until almost 7:00 this morning!!! Unfortunately it stormed last night so the dog had me awake in the middle of the night. If I can get the two of them on the same program I might actually wake up well-rested someday.

Of course, I am trying to take some time to reply to emails and blog so she naturally decides it is time to wake up. Bye!

BTW - my spell checker isn't working for some reason so you'll just have to deal with typos and misspellings.

Sorry to hear that James is sick! Hopefully y'all won't get it! :-o
Brooke had reflux and they wanted to put her on zantac but I gave her gripe water instead and that did the trick for her!! That stuff is great!

I might have to check out the gripe water (I didn't even think about it) BUT if the Zantac works I won't want to quit giving it to her. Feeding time just wasn't any fun anymore. :-(

My nephew Blake (he is one of the triplets) had horrible reflux as an infant. He was put on zantac and it did wonders for him as well. Poor baby Megan. Hope your hubby is better soon.

Totally agree- if the zantac is doing the trick, stick with that! :-) I just had the gripe water on hand (had bought it for gas, etc) and happened to try that b/c I hadn't made it to the pharmacy yet! ;-) Gripe water was just so great I like to tell everyone about it! :-D Have a great weekend!
