ahhh ... Friday

It has been a rough week. Well, just a rough couple of days since the week really didn't start until Wednesday. And actually, Grandma came to babysit yesterday while I went to the doc so maybe I'm just being lazy (or exhausted or frazzled or whatever). James is finally back at work after what seems like FOREVER. Seems like he's been off more than he's been at work with his vacation time for Thanksgiving, the baby, Christmas and New Year's. Poor guy had three days in the office this week (and one was actually spent outside the office) and he gets on a plane Monday for NYC so I will be a single mom for three nights. Yes, I'm a little apprehensive but I do have my mom here to help! Thank God for that - the fact that she lives so close and the fact that she didn't pick this year to sail around the world. :-) Anywho - back to the 'rough week' part - Megan chose to stay awake for HOURS after her 2 am feedings both Tuesday and Wednesday nights. Not just awake but fussy-awake or absolutely pissed-off-awake. Last night, however, she could barely stay awake to eat so we were up for 30 minutes ... then she started to fuss the second I climbed back under the covers but went back down after another 30 minutes and little more to eat so that wasn't so bad. She woke up again around 5:00 this morning - which was only 3 hours from her last meal - shouldn't she be OVER that by now? I changed her and took her out to the sofa where we both slept until James came out around 6:45! Obviously she wasn't hungry, just bored or lonely, so maybe it's time to think about moving her out of our room so she can fuss a little without waking up James. I'm OK getting up with her but I really want James to get some sleep. He doesn't get to stay home and watch SoapNet reruns of The OC and 90210 all day long.

Another thing I've learned ... don't try to start too many things at once. I bit off more than I could chew yesterday. I got the first load of laundry folded but not put away and I had loads in both the washer and the dryer. I meant to cook dinner - oops - and I planned to vacuum - neither of which happened. I just need to make a list and do things one at a time and not worry about when they actually get done. I think accomplishing something during the day is better than half of a lot of things. I did get the oven cleaned yesterday but how hard is that when it cleans itself?! AND I went to the doc (just the endo - my 6 week post partum checkup is next week - yay me) and on the way home I did make it to the grocery store too. On top of everything else there is an endless supply of bottles that need to be cleaned, a dog that needs to be medicated (and loved a little extra), and a blog that needs to be updated, so when do I find time to eat those extra 500-800 breastfeeding calories per day?

As crazy busy as that sounds ... I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Besides, the maids start cleaning the house in two weeks - YAY!!!!!!!
I can't wait.

One more side note - at the endocrinologist yesterday I found out that I am ONE POUND away from my pre-pregnancy weight. I probably hit it last week but gained it back by single-handedly ridding our house of any and all leftover Christmas cookies. I guess next week I'll get the go-ahead to actually exercise so the fun is over. Time to get serious about getting in shape for baby #2!
