Happy May

I really never thought I would make it but it is finally here! When I found out my due date was June 8th, I said I just wanted to make it to May before this baby is born. I actually accomplished a goal I set for myself! Haven't done that in a while. Well, let's face it, I don't really set goals that don't involve chores or errands anymore. So here it is MAY and I am still pregnant. Never mind that I'm big as a house and feel like I've been hit by a bus. My next goal, I suppose, is to spend this Mother's Day as an expectant mother of 2 rather than a mom of 3. That's only one more week, right?

So I had my first weekly OB appointment last Thursday and it was just more of the same. I'm 34 weeks and my weight gain is holding steady at 21 pounds. Apparently that's a little high for someone of my "stature" but my doc didn't say a word. I currently weigh 1 pound less than I did when I had Emmy so I'm stil winning. My uterus, or fundal height, is measuring 37 weeks. Yes, that's pretty much bigger than I've ever been. Moo w born at 37 weeks and I had low amniotic fluid so I wasn't as big. Let me tell you, my body has said ENOUGH! It is responding with pain. Nice. Hurts to walk. Hurts to sit. Hurts to lay down.

My most recent trip to the hospital was lots of fun too. I checked in late in the evening and was hooked up to everything. Yes, I was contracting so they gave me terbutaline, antibiotics, fluids and steroids and didn't let me eat. I stayed 2 nights and got everything under control. My MFM doc came and did a growth scan and The Boy is measuring 5 lbs 11 oz (at 33w6d). Good sized baby but definitely not too big. He seemed pretty confident that he wouldn't have any big problems if he came a little earlier than he was supposed to. That was good news to hear. So they sent me home with a prescription for Procardia (a blood pressure med that is suposed to calm contractions)and more orders to sit on my ass. Easy for them to say when nesting is kicking in!
