OUCH ... ?

I had an appointment with a podiatrist this morning. I have had a weird swollen foot for a long time. It would come and go, sometimes it was severe and other times it wasn't so bad but my shoes were tight. While I was pregnant my left foot was HUGE while my right foot was just big so there was definitely something else going on there. So I finally made this appointment (after being referred to a podiatrist last May). 3 x-rays and 1.5 hours later my doc determined I most likely suffered a stress fracture over 3 years ago and have been walking on it ever since. I am in a boot for three weeks then have to go back for more x-rays. She used this thing that is basically a tuning fork and pressed it in on my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th metatarsals and it hurt like HELL. Chances are you have no idea what a tuning fork is (unless you played an instrument 'back in the day') so I'll tell you. It's a piece of metal that you hit on the palm of your hand/knee/heel and it vibrates creating a note - usually a way of tuning your instrument - for the cello that note was an 'A'. Anyways, when pushed into my foot, the vibrations caused some pain on my bones (and it is still aching - beyotch!). There's a small chance she was wrong and I'll have to go have a scan done - I guess like an MRI or something. If she's right about the stress fracture she might want to do a bone density test. yay me! She was puzzled by my lack of actual pain over the last three years but , let's face it people, I'm not the most active person in the world and I guess I have a pretty high pain tolerance. Too bad my mental pain tolerance isn't as strong ... I'm just falling apart and it makes me feel so old. When I get this taken care of I'm going to train for a marathon. er ... a 5K ... er maybe I'll just try to jog a mile without passing out. ha ha ha!

Afterwards, Meg and I went to meet James for lunch. mmmmm ... Chipotle. I'm not in any hurry to run any errands with this thing on my foot so I guess I'm in for the day! :-)
