O...M...G!

Why in the world do terrible things have to happen when James is out of town? OK ... back up a little. The dog is fine. The medicine seems to be working wonders for her. She's out there chasing birds and rolling in the grass and basically being a dog (well, as much of a dog as she has ever been anyhow). We had a great weekend too. Friends came over for dinner Saturday night and we took a little trip down memory lane ... ahhhh college. ha ha ha! We were so young, so skinny, and so incredibly drunk all the time! At least that's what all the pictures showed! :-) James and I did some work out in the yard and planted some new bushes and stuff in the back yard. We're getting ready to transplant our wonky crepe myrtles from the front yard to the back so we had to get the new beds ready back there.

Then comes Monday ... James hops a plane to NYC and Megan gets a tummy bug. Fun for mommy. She started throwing up Monday afternoon and didn't hold anything down until yesterday. We went quite some time without a wet diaper and were about 30 minutes from taking her to the ER for IV fluids when we had a glorious pee pee diaper!! The poor thing just screams for more when I take the bottle away from her. She's so hungry but if I feed her too much too soon she'll just throw it up. Tuesday night my mom was on her way to bring me dinner when I called her and said just to cancel. She had already come over late Monday night to bring Pedialyte. Well, Tuesday she came over to help while I was sick. Luckily, mine only lasted one night and my mom stayed here with us (and abandoned her own dog at home) to help take care of Megan. I lost 4 pounds but my appetite is coming back so I'm sure it won't stay off. Megan finally got off the pedialyte-only diet yesterday and we started some half-strength formula last night before bed time. She still slept wonderfully through the night (which is good since she was in our room with me) the whole time. She had more half-strength formula today so I'm crossing my fingers that she won't throw it all up when she gets up from her nap because I might have over done it. You would think she wouldn't since it has been 2 hours but she did that to me Tuesday so who knows. I'm just so happy she seems to be on the mend. I know she has lost weight too because her diapers are loose but she still seems to be acting relatively normal, when she's not too hungry. She doesn't want to be put down. I think she's holding out hope that she'll be fed if she's being carried around. It's been hard and while I can't believe this has to happen when I'm a single mommy for a week I am glad James probably won't get sick too. My mom came over again this morning to help with Megan while I get the house back in order (and brought more pedialyte and breakfast). She has spent a lot of time here this week and I wouldn't have survived without her! Thanks MOM!

On a lighter note, Megan has started enjoying the delicacy that is her feet ...

Is this the face of a child with a tummy bug?
