Long Weekend

We had a great long weekend and I was sad to see it end last night. James took Friday off so we were able to go out to lunch (yummy Texadelphia) and run some errands together, as a complete family, before James spent the rest of the afternoon working in the yard. That night, a couple of the guys came over to watch the Spurs/Lakers game with James but I hung out too after Meg went to bed. We were up until almost 2 am watching some Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel that was really stupid. I didn't know I could still stay up that late and I'm sure I won't make a habit of it. Saturday morning I didn't feel so great when Megan woke up at 6:00 but what can you do? James actually got up with her and fed her but I just couldn't go back to sleep so I got up too and we got our day going. We pretty much just hung out around the house and got stuff done. I started the baby-proofing process and had to run to Target to buy more outlet covers while James washed the exterior windows!! That night we just hung out by ourselves and grilled and went to bed early. Yes, we went to bed early on a Saturday night, a sure sign that we're aging ... or becoming more responsible ... or something!! Sunday we just went out to lunch at our local yummy Mexican restaurant then took a bit of a Sunday drive around our neighborhood. James repainted the back door (necessary thanks to the dog jumping on it all the time) then Megan took her first dip in her tiny pool (previous post). That was really fun! Then we went to Christy and Larry's for dinner and to watch the Spurs/Lakers game and hang out. The babies had such a wonderful time! Three girls, one 9 mos., one almost 8 mos. and my almost 6 month old Megan (who was almost as big as both of them). We're so old ... we were home and in bed by 11:00. The transfer from Pack-n-Play to car seat to bed went much more smoothly this time and Megan went right back to sleep once she was in bed. Being up at 11:00 did not, however, cause her to sleep any later Monday morning. :-( Yesterday was a great day even with the early baby wake up call. Grandma came over to babysit while James and I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie and take care of some other errands at the mall. The movie was OK. If it had been the first Indiana Jones movie I don't think the others would have been as popular but the mere fact that Harrison Ford can still make a movie like that at 65 years old (I checked his bio ... his birthday is July 13, 1942) just made me laugh more. I won't spoil it for anyone, it lost me a little at the end with the whole sci-fi angle, but all in all it was an entertaining movie. James is always so busy so getting it spend that much time as a family, and even some as a couple, was really nice. I miss my husband sometimes!! Between the hours that he works, his travel schedule, and taking care of an almost 6 month old baby we don't really get much time to just hang out so our long weekend was just what the doctor ordered!

Now, I was hoping to take advantage of nap time and these hot days we've been having to get some sun on my pasty white skin but it's RAINING! We've had almost two inches of rain so far today and it's STILL coming down. I can't leave the house because of the thunder-phobic dog so I can't even go anywhere.

And now Megan is crying so I guess I should wrap this up. I hope everybody had a great Memorial Day weekend and if you had to drag yourself back to work today ... I send you a hug!

Glad you had a nice weekend! Texadelphia sounds so good right about now! :-) I want to see the new Indiana Jones movie but I know it won't be as good as the old ones!
