Craziness

The past few days have been totally crazy. We had our all day long mall adventure last Friday then headed back out Saturday to shop some more. We went to the outlet mall to try to find a suitcase for James since the one we got 7 years ago has pretty much finally crapped out on us. We found one that would work HOWEVER the idiot at the Samsonite store must have been having a really bad day ... or absolutely deserves to be fired. We didn't buy the bag because we didn't think they deserved the sale. Seriously. Now we still need a suitcase but we're back to square one because we ARE NOT going back into that store, ever. Sunday we had a birthday party to go to and it was a lot of fun. We've had crummy weather but we got just enough sunshine on Sunday to make it a great time at the park. I ran to Target Sunday evening and they had this great promotion going on the formula we use so I bought two cans ... and when I got home I discovered both of them were pretty banged up (under the plastic cap) so I was definitely not going to feed my daughter from those cans. Who knows if they were still air-tight and I wasn't going to open them to find out and waste $25. SOOOO ... this all brings me to yesterday. They said there would be rain in the afternoon so I went to Target early to exchange the formula (I probably looked pretty funny at Target with a baby in my buggy, two cans of formula and two cases of beer) and got home in plenty of time before the rain. I'm really glad I did because when the storm blew in it was crazy. Megan was in her crib for a nap and had been there about 45 minutes. I was rushing around trying to get stuff done when the storm blew in. It didn't seem that crazy. There was some rumbling thunder and rain but the sky wasn't completely black and the wind wasn't crazy. Then it started to hail. Crazy pea to quarter sized funny shaped hail. So I checked on Megan through the monitor to see if it was waking her up and when I turned up the volume on her monitor is when I heard the TORNADO SIRENS!!!!! Don't get me wrong, I was watching the news and keeping an eye on the weather but I didn't hear the sirens until I turned up the monitor. Megan was, of course, still sleeping, but I had to wake her up and bring her downstairs in case I needed to get into a closet. They were showing a wall cloud and some circulation on TV in Frisco but it never touched the ground. I was on the phone with my mom when the worst of it went over her house, which is just a couple miles south of us. She saw the clouds swirling and decided it was time to step into a closet. Now, my mom likes thunderstorms and will watch them even when I'm nervous (which, quite honestly, is almost every thunderstorm) ... so to hear her say she was ready to seek shelter kinda freaked me out. She's having work done on her patio and the guys left tools and shovels in the back yard. The wind picked them up and blew them around the yard (thankfully not through a window). The people across the street from her house had their cast aluminum patio furniture blown from their backyard to their front. uhhhhh ... wow. We never got that crazy swirling wind at our house but I was holding on to poor Megan so tightly and was ready to run. The dog, I wasn't sure the dog was going to survive. She set up camp in front of the tv, like she was watching it, and I couldn't get her to come to me for some time after it was all over. After the rain and hail stopped, we had bright sunshine and the birds were chirping like nothing happened. wow.

To top it all off, the Astros game was supposed to be on TV last night. So, at 9:00 I switched over to ESPN2 ready to watch Opening Day only to find ESPNNews being broadcast on ESPN2's channel. I was PIIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDD!! I actually called Time Warner and all she could tell me was that she would turn it in to the tech guys. She actually called me back 10 minutes later, while I was mid-email to Time Warner, and said "it's just ESPNNews scrolling across the bottom. Right, I've never watched ESPN. I don't know there's a ticker that goes the whole time you're watching. I had to explain to her that what was actually on my TV was a sports ESPN News broadcast and, in fact, not the Astros at Padres game that I had been looking forward to for a week. I haven't heard back from my email. No, I didn't use any bad words but it was dripping with sarcasm. I hate Time Warner WITH A PASSION. That really ruined my night but I guess I got to go to bed earlier and actually watch Medium, which was a part two of two from last week.

Anywho ... I'll leave you with a few pics ...
Daddy and Megan at Cooper's First Birthday party.
This was just before Daddy handed Megan back to Mommy to be fed. I guess feeding is Mommy's job when we're in public. ;-) hee hee

My thunder-phobic dog keeping her eye on the news and the Tornado Warnings. Thanks Pete Delkus for talking to my dog.

Ready for Opening Day! Yes, she may look like a little boy but she's my little Astros fan (whether she knows it or not)!

Ready for some grub mommy!! Then the ballgame!
