I had been doing very well with not being a psycho pregnant chick but lately my patience has just worn thin. Instead of letting things boil for a while before flying off the handle ... I just fly. I'm tired, I'm swollen, and I'm starting to hurt so I guess that's the root of all evils. My last doc appointment went well and I got my lovely orange soda thing for the gestational diabetes test in a month so keep your fingers crossed for me on Sep 21! The doc finally actually measured my belly and said I'm looking about 24-25 (it was my 23 week appointment). I know those numbers are well within normal and aren't really exact so I'm just happy all seems to be going along as it should. She pointed out, again, that we're not really expecting her to be a 4 pound baby. ha ha - not so funny. The best part of the visit was stepping on the scale. I had only gained about 2 lbs since my last visit. Trust me, I haven't been going hungry. In fact, I've been eating like a horse so I was very happy to see the minimal gain since I'm ahead of schedule in that department. My weight was the same last Friday as it was on Aug 1st at my Endo appointment. YAY!! More ice cream for Megan!
The nursery is coming along. We finally hung the curtains over the weekend. They're green so we decided to paint the bathroom that is attached to the bedroom that same shade of green. It is BRIGHT but I guess a little girl will like it ... and a baby doesn't really care much. We bought some cute little cabinet pulls for the bathroom too. The longer it takes to do, it seems, the more crap we buy for the room!! I'm ready for the furniture to arrive so we can put everything together and be done with it but that's not going to happen until mid-October.
I've started planning our first 'escape from baby' vacation. I know we won't want to leave her when the time comes but right now, I'm really looking forward to a few nights of "too much". Too much food, too much booze, spending too much money ... VIVA LAS VEGAS! June 2008 is the target date and it will have been a few years since my last vacation so I'm ready NOW. James suggested we take a week long cruise like we did for our honeymoon but I had to remind him that 7 nights away from our little 6-month-old baby girl (outside of cell phone range) probably wasn't the best idea. Seems easy now but I know after she's born it won't be so easy to leave. Seriously, we take a picture of our DOG when we go on vacation - how much are we going to miss our baby?!?!
I finally felt her really thump me a little while ago. It was a good solid kick that made my whole stomach move! James has been complaining that he can't feel her yet so I knew this was going to happen. He's out of town and is missing out. I'm sure it will be even stronger and more often by the time he gets home so he won't miss out for long. Don't feel sorry for him though, he's in Vegas and, at this very moment, he's at one of the Cirque shows on the strip. But hey, I got kicked by my baby and it made my belly jiggle. What would you rather be doing? right.

You certainly deserve more ice cream. I used to treat myself to chocolate donuts after every doctor appointment. Even if the scale wasn't particularly friendly to me that day!
stacy
